Unmoored
Acrylic paint and embroidery thread on canvas, 2018
5’ x 9’

Layers of black, blue and white paint drip across the untethered canvas.  Almost unseen, glyphs appear floating and freeing themselves from the white embroidery thread that has been pulled into a ball on the floor in front of the canvas.  Holding tight, the anchor pulls at the thread and the canvas, not letting go. A moment is caught between close and far away, loss and desire, effort and transition, as well as there and here.

Tangled currents

Pulling away in any direction

 Wait.

 Towards something?

Let it move to and fro.

  A sail in the wind

Maybe a star will guide me home?
