DESIGNER STATEMENT: Hi! I’m Safiyah, a Moroccan American trilingual designer. My design journey started back in middle school. Whenever I was assigned a project or presentation, I would receive dozens of compliments from my professors and classmates with regard to my design and final display of my projects. Little did I know that would be the start of a life long passion.

My favorite thing about being a designer is that I get to learn so much about new topics and industries. It feels like I have a different job every day! One day my client is a film maker and another day I’m working with a gluten-free coach. How can I get bored from researching and learning about something new every day?

For my senior design project, I designed and launched an online shop with the vision of capturing the spirit of the Arab World. (Check out my video and process book for more information.) I just began marketing for my shop, and it’s very rewarding to watch how design combined with advertising affects numbers and sales. Design is truly what makes a difference in the business world.

I am currently working towards my life-long goal of launching an international design agency safidesigns.com. I will start off by offering online design services in English, Arabic, and French, but I hope to grow one day to have various Safidesigns studios around the world, and expand to offer services in all languages. I’m so excited to see where this takes me!
