Call for Artists:
Fountain of Truth: Women Artists and their Perspective on Aging.

The central theme of the exhibit is Women Artists depicting their own personal experience with aging. Below is a list of questions also being considered as a part of the Central theme.

  • What are the difficult moments of growing older?

  • What is something wonderful about growing older? 

  • How does your identity change as you get older? 

  • How do others' perceptions of you change as you become older?

  • Exploration of the effects of beauty culture and social media on self perception. 

  • When does a woman become “old”? What does it mean to be old? 

  • How do relationships change as one becomes older? (Platonic, Romantic, Community, Familiar etc.) 

  • Variety of backgrounds, cultures, LGBTQ+ community, ect and their unique experiences with growing older as a woman. 

  • A reflection on how culture/society has turned on old women.

Dates:
The deadline for submissions been extended to January 9th. 

On View February 24 - April 11, 2026 at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas. 

This project is funded by the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program through the OSCAR program at George Mason University.

Eligibility

Women artists local to the NOVA area with a variety of backgrounds, mediums and styles are encouraged to apply. 

We can only accept 2-D artworks no larger than 72”Length x 60”Height.

The work of art must be family friendly.

AI work will not be accepted.

The art work must be display ready, work must be framed or mounted on stretchers and equipped with wire or d-ring hardware.

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis. The deadline has been extended to January 9th.
