EMMA DARDIS: #OURMANASSAS
/#OurManassas, 2022
Emma Dardis, @emdardis.design
Location: South entrance of Manassas Mall
Artist Statement: “The main inspiration behind my piece were specific memories that either I experienced or others have shared with me in Manassas. For example, the food truck that appears on my mural is meant to represent a burrito truck that me and my boyfriend go to quite regularly. The mural stayed pretty true to my original design. I only added a few little elements to help balance the wall.
I hope that viewers can be reminded of their own experiences and memories when looking at my mural. I want it to serve as a reminder of the positives the community holds. I’ve already been really pleased by the comments I’ve heard while painting. So many people will point at a specific element and make a comment. Children especially get excited when they see an element they love. So that’s a really rewarding reaction that I’ve been able to see.”
