DESIGNER STATEMENT: Chinese New Year is a celebration I regret not fully appreciating when I was younger, as I knew very little people in my community who celebrated this holiday while growing up. As I grew older and matured, my sense of identity is a bit more solidified, as a person and as a designer. This book project is a showcase of my print design and newly developed illustration skills, and it was a great opportunity to get touch with my Asian culture. My goal as a designer is to help create a greater space of conversation within people by utilizing the differences we have as humans to strive for a more understanding and positive world.
