ARTIST STATEMENT: Animation was one of the few forms of media I was allowed to watch while growing up. Disney based a lot of their films on fairytales, which grew to be a big factor in my childhood. However, as I got older, I came to re-examine the origins of these stories I had grown familiar with. I use familiar stories to examine current issues in society and diversify my works as much as possible, but I find myself using certain themes and motifs. Some of these for my more personal original works include examining society/culture, and the re-examination/call backs to fairytales. I intentionally play with different styles and subjects of work as it is important to be flexible as a creator. As a result, I’m capable of adapting to projects that are unfamiliar.
