ARTIST STATEMENT: Edwin Cruz is an independent Northern Virginia-based muralist, designer, and illustrator. Cruz pushes to insert himself into the contemporary world of digital painting by experimenting with software such as Maya, Blender, and Cinema 4D. Cruz’s work reflects his multi-cultural background rooted in the immigration of his Salvadoran parents and interest in Central American diaspora. With the help of 3D modeling, Cruz creates a new way to present audiences with the experience of a unique gallery. The gallery taps into your senses by using a Central American café and market as the venue that exhibits works centered around the intersection of our cultures and what emotional contrasts reveal themselves.
